Dreadmill

So I did 4 miles today.  On the Dreadmill.  The second time this week.  Crap.

Now the only reason I used the treadmill today is that I wanted proper running form.  Actually, I could have run over at Stoney Creek where the path is plowed and salted but I didn't have time today to do that but I really need to do that more.  Since my IT Band was bothering me, I used the treadmill.  The leg actually felt good but it was only 4 miles.  I'm hoping that the IT Band issue was just due to the poor road conditions outside.  We'll see.  It has not acted up since October.

For those of you with IT Band issues, these two things are your best friend:

IT Band Strap
Foam Roller
The best inventions ever made for running(at least for me).

Have a great day and.....Keep Running!

  1. My IT band has been bothering me, too. I have a foam roller, which I love, but have never heard of the IT Band strap? Will have to check that out...

  2. I often deal with ITB issues and the foam roller is my best friend. I hope your ITB was just upset with the running conditions and will not act up anymore!

  3. I bought a foam roller this weekend for my angry muscles in the shin area. See how versatile they are. I once ran 11 miles on the dreadmill. Four is not too too bad. Here's to both us healing fast!

  4. I want to get a foam roller! I have the Garmin 305 too.

You would not like my running schedule. Since I have a 2 year old and a husband out of town I hit the treadmill 3 to 4 times a week every week!

  5. I'm a big believer in the foam roller. I haven't heard of an IT Band strap but will definitely look into it. Anything to help keep the ITB under control!

The 'mill is torture for me - just hit 5 for the first time the other day.

  9. I also own the foam roller you picture, but get even better results with a RumbleRoller (rumbleroller.com).

  10. Sometimes the treadmill is the best bet. When I was rehabbing my achilles, I could run on the mill long before my ankle was ready for the roads.

  16. I have to confess -- I have never run on a dreadmill before. To me, it just sounds...dreadful. I'm recovering from some long snow running too; the back of my legs are killing me. Gotta love the Michigan winter running season. Keep it up!

  17. I am a rock'n'Roller, too. I love that thing. I wish I had known about them years ago... or had the wisdom and foresight to invent it myself! Take care of that ITB!

  18. I'm betting it's just the nasty footing that caused the ITB to get pissed.

I'll bet it backs off soon.

Good reason for using a dreadmill ;)

  20. Lots of IT Band issues! I think the snow caused it. I'll be back outside Tuesday(if it does not freezing rain like it's predicting)

  21. I've ran my last two runs on the dreadmill....I just felt like running without dealing with sliding, sloshing, and slipping. I'll be back outside tomorrow though.

Hope that IT Band shapes up for you!!!!!

  23. I am so glad that I am not the only one that calls it the dreadmill. I cannot stand running on the dreadmill.

I need to invest in a roller of some form. My running buddy has a marathon stick. Not sure what kind I am going to get.
