drying after my run |
I finished out but think I did too much. Not because of the distance but because of the tough running conditions. It's so much harder to run through snow plus while I like the Salomon shoes, it was my first longer run in them. The snow also throws off my good running form. I'm just more comfortable in my regular running shoes. Hopefully tomorrow's run will not hurt.
The other big news! Yesterday in the mail I got two bumper stickers from two fellow running bloggers. The first one was from Adrienne at Tangents and I love the quotes. Run Your Race. Keep the Faith.
I can certainly attest that if you don't have faith, it's going to be a long haul no matter what distance you are running. And you must run your own race otherwise you're going to be very disappointed.
The second sticker is from Mollie at I'm a Sleeper Baker. Her's says "You are capable of more than you realize" Isn't that the truth? I never thought I would be able to do the kinds of distances that I have done.
I want to thank both of them for sending me their stickers. I think they are really awesome! I'll look at them everyday before I go out to run to help keep me motivated.
Everyone else - if you have not checked out their blogs, please go to them NOW!
Have a great day everyone and.....Keep Running!
yeah, i've been doing my long runs outside..and it messes with everything. i like to believe that all those challenges strengthens my mental stamina while it's also working on my endurance. at least that helps me get out there and keep going. i know that i'd go crazy if i had to do all my running inside during the snowy months and it takes too long to put on the layers to go outside for anything other than a long run.
ReplyDeletegood work! nice stickers.
Adrienne is awesome. Like, litterally, Her marathon PR is 3:05 and no, that is not a typo. Today's projected high is 75.
ReplyDeleteRan in the ice today and thought about all of you in the north who deal with this all winter! You are all amazing!
ReplyDeleteJeff, we had a tough run today at our TNT group run also! Like I tell the team, this will make those good weather miles so much easier.
ReplyDeleteWe are snow free so far this year, but last year during the snowcapolypse, I ran a lot of snowy runs. I found that it totally messed with my form and I ended up sore in weird places because I would be tense from running.
ReplyDeleteGood job getting out there!
I've never run in the snow but I can think how it can throw off your form. Well done for getting out there!
ReplyDeleteI'm planning to do my long run in the snow too! It should be a lot of fun! Sweet stickers!
ReplyDeleteThose shoes are pretty snazzy! Did they work in keeping your feet dry? I'm sorry about your IT band! If you don't already have one, you should invest in a foam roller and roll it out tonight!
ReplyDeleteHarder, slower, colder - we cold weather runners are a crazy bunch!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like the sticker! Nice job getting out there, I'm being a wuss about all our snow, I keep taking the dog out for walks in it, but I'm running on my treadmill : )
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a great cold weather run! They are never easy.
ReplyDeleteThe stickers are great, seems like a big push in the blog land to give out stickers - I think you need to make one :).
ReplyDeleteYeah, that snow is miserable to run on - I did so myself in a race and nearly killed myself. Takes so much out of you! Rest up!
I love those stickers! They are both very inspirational:)
ReplyDeleteLOVE those stickers!! :) I am such a sucker for inspirational things...
ReplyDeleteEven with the crummy conditions, I'm happy to see you were able to get a break from the treadmill.
ReplyDeleteChris - I'm coming to stay at your place :)
ReplyDeleteJohann - try running through mud for 8 miles and you should get the idea.
Christy - yep, bought one long ago. The IT Band has not acted up since October so it worries me.
truthfully I love running in the snow, as long as it isn't too cold, but it is difficult. Take care of that IT!
