Yuck - Snow!

Ok, we are in Michigan and I understand that but we have been pretty lucky to not have much snow this year.  Last night we got 3-4 inches of snow and in a really quick time period.  So, for the first time this year(2011) and the third time this winter, I used the treadmill.  I did 5 miles and hated every minute of it.  I'm hoping for clear roads tomorrow morning and I'm sure they will be by then.  One thing that is beneficial to using the treadmill is that I can keep the speed to what I want it to be.  I set the 5 miles on an 8:27 pace.  I also use a 2% incline for my treadmill runs to somewhat simulate an outdoor run.  I'm not sure it really simulates it but it does make it harder.  Anyway, back to outside tomorrow!(hopefully)

I'm hoping to catch up on all of your blogs this weekend.  Work has been crazy busy and I have been getting home later so there has not been much time to look at anything since I'm out at 9:30pm(unless you have a snow storm, then it's 10pm)

Have a great day and......Keep Running!

  1. we got dumped on last night. I can't even really get outside to walk the dog! I'm thinking I should have invested in some snow shoes! Hopefully you can get out there and run soon.

  3. We got 7" yesterday. Kind of puts a kink in running plans. My speed work was on the mill.

  4. 14 inches on the ground here - over the past two days. I guess it is a good thing that we have the opporuntity to use TMs and are not left to just sit. I know exactly how you feel about running indoors. As you know - I would pay gladly to be able to run right now. Good luck getting outside soon.

  6. UGH! Yes, the treadmill is unbearable but it is a lifesaver in the winter months. We are currently snowed in here, I can't even open my back door! :(

  7. Our 8 inches is holding on strong. The windchills are so low, I don't see it melting any time soon. I noticed that the roads were finally mostly all plowed this morning (not so much yesterday when I was out trying to run in it).

I love the winter, and normally hate the summer months....but I can 100% say I will totally not take those summer mornings for granted any longer. :-)

    Treadmill = ugh!!!!!!

  12. I've learned to not mind the treadmill so much since a lot of my runs this past Fall had to be on the treadmill since I live in Manhattan and often can only run at night...anyway, Active.com posted some great tips for spicing up your treadmill workouts that I usually employ and they make it a lot better...good luck! Everyone's gotten hit with the snow pretty badly this week!

  13. Great job on braving the treadmill - not fun, as I am experiencing it with you this week.

  14. Joggiing - you can run with shoe shoes!

Teamarcia - thanks. I will post this weekend!

Jamoosh - Yup. I have yaktrax too and trail shoes but I hate running through the snow. It's good after one day when they clear the streets. Still snowy but better.

Christi - not a good place to live if you hate snow.

Ken - yes, thanks! I guess we didn't get as much as others.

Christy - I'll check it out but they have to figure out a way to make the treadmill fun.

    Jim - Thanks!

Andrew - Thanks! TeaMaria also gave me the same award. Can't wait to blog about it. Two in the same day!!!
