Non post week?

Five miles on the schedule today.  Done.  I switched my long run to Saturday this week so that I did not have to run 9 miles today and then head out of town.  I also got my first blister in over 20 months of running and I have run much longer than 9 miles.  I have really tried to take care of my feet/nails so as to not have these issues.  When I ran 5 today, the blister did not hurt but I can feel it a little after.  It's about the size of a half of a dime on my third toe.  I did pop it and left the skin on so hopefully it will heal quicker.  What do you usually do for blisters?  How often do you get them?  I usually use Bodyglide on my feet and that has helped tremendously in keeping my feet in good working order without blisters.

Well I'm off to Pittsburgh for the week for work.  I'll try and post daily but I know I cannot get on blogger on my work phone or computer.  I do have an Ipod so I'll try to post there but no guaranties.  It will feel weird not to post since I think I have posted everyday since I started the blog.  If I can't get on, have a great week everyone.

and Keep Running!!!

  2. Blisters... ow! I rarely get them on my feet, but I used to get them pretty badly when I rowed. I used to rub alcohol on the surface, pop them with a sterilized needle at the very edge, drain them and then rub alcohol over the whole thing. This seemed to help them dry out and heal fastest for me. If the skin didn't reattach, I would clip the whole flap off as close to the edges as I could to prevent ripping.

Hope you have a good trip and a good week :)

  3. i am a blister-popper. they are only painful when there is pressure built up under the skin. pop it. clean it. keep it covered.

    have fun this week!

  4. I always pop and drain blisters, but I don't tear off the skin cause they heal faster that way. Bodyglide is a miracle! I LOVE IT.

  5. Ugh so sorry about your blister ! I've only had 1 before and it's because my shoes rubbed so I bought new shoes and I use body glide and that has helped! Hope it heals up soon!

  7. Hope the blister heals! I use aquaphor on my blisters and it works like a charm!! It can also be used as a preventative for blisters!

  8. Sometimes I ignore them - if they're too tender, though, I drain them - from the side, so that the skin stays intact!

  9. I treat my blisters the same as you did; pop but leave the skin attached. It seems to dry up and heal quickly when I do this.

  10. I've only gotten a couple. Once on the outside edge of my big toe, and once in between two of my smaller toes. I only knew they were there because I saw them...neither hurt. So I left them alone and didn't drain. They healed pretty quickly.
