Confidence is the name of the game!

Yowza!  18 miles for my long run today.  The great thing about this is that when I finished, I didn't feel too bad.  Yes, my legs are a little sore but, hey, I just ran 18 miles so they should be sore.  This is the longest I have ever run.  I did have a little issue at mile 2 when my foot started having some pain and I had to stop and massage it and loosen my shoe but other than that, it went really well.  Here are my splits:

Fairly consistent.  The one thing that this run has given me --- Confidence.  As all of you know, this is really what we all need because it's all a mind game out there when running.  Overall, I was really happy with the pace as well.  It gives me confidence that I can finish the marathon under 4 hours - just under!  I know that last 8 are going to be killer but I want not even pushing too hard today.  My thought is to not stop running because I'm not sure I'd be able to start again once I stop.  Haha!!

Question of the day?  Who loves Costco?  I love that store but you just can't leave without buying anything!

Have a great day and.....Keep Running!!!!

  5. Nicely done, Jeff. I always find the 16 and 18 milers tougher than the 20's. You are well on your way.

  6. great job with that pacing! confidence boosting runs are the best. and that's my philosophy with long runs: don't stop because you won't start back up! it's worked so far for me

  8. WOW!!! Look at you go!!! Consistent is right - you rocked that 18 miles from start to finish. You must feel awesome right now. I had a really awesome 13.1mile confidence booster myself this morning.

As for Costco? I can't leave that store without spending at least $100.

  11. I have pace envy - look at you! Fast AND consistent! We don't have Costco here, but we do have Sam's - equally dangerous!

  12. Amazing Jeff! If you can do 18 miles at a 8:43 pace, you DEFINITELY have a sub 4 hour marathon in you... the last 8 miles are all heart and you have a lot of that!

Costco is amazing... and I'm with you... never leave with just one thing!

  13. Awesome run!

I go to BJs instead of costco because it's a little closer, but I LOVE buying things in bulk :)
