4 miles today; easy pace. I needed that. April 4th was the last time I used the treadmill and I'm lovin' it!
------------------------
In the first six months.......
- I knew I needed to lose weight and get healthy
- I did not know what I was doing.
- I did not even think of being a runner.
- I walked slowly at first and then faster pace.
- I always worked out after work and missed many times because of it.
- I skipped my workout if it rained.
- I wore cotton shorts and cotton shirts.
- I tried running and was tired after six houses.
- I learned how to eat properly.
- I learned how to leave the dinner table without being full.
- I learned to love fruits and vegetables.
- I learned to not eat the snacks in the home.
- I purchased a treadmill.
- I purchased a boxflex machine.
- I started running a longer distance - 1/4 mile(that was far!)
- I changed my workouts to mornings.
- I started running slowly and got up to 1 mile. Haha!
- I learned the value of NOT wearing cotton to work out(ouch my inner thigh's were chaffed)
- I bought a timex watch to start timing how long I was working out.
- I bought a decent pair of running shoes.(Saucony)
- I dropped my cholesterol over 100 points.
- I lost eight inches from my waist.
- I went from XL clothes to Medium and sometimes smalls. I always wondered who wore smalls?
- I lost over 50 pounds!
I did all this and I really had not even gotten into running yet.
This is what I did in my first six months of getting off the couch and changing my life. More to come....
What did you do in your first six months?
Have a great day and.....Keep Running!!!!!
I've always run, so I don't know what it's like not to run... I even find walking in town to slow!!! I sit in my office at work and look out the window and see Table Mountain and long to be running on it, so I love getting to the office and reading that first line of yours:"5 miles today on the schedule. That's what I did."
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome post! Thanks for sharing. "I always wondered who wore smalls." I've actually thought the same thing about mens sizes sometimes :)
ReplyDeleteLove love love this post! Isn't it amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it? I never even IMAGINED I could run just one mile--and a year after I went for my first run (1/10th of a mile, lol) I ran my first half-marathon. I was SO DETERMINED to do it that NOT doing it wasn't even an option.
ReplyDeleteYour family must be so proud of you!
That is so awesome! You are a true hero and I hope your story inspires others to follow your path!
ReplyDeleteYou are inspiring! I never imagined I'd run either, let alone get ready for a half-marathon. I think my story might be quite like yours. Do you really still have your first pair of running shoes?
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome post! I love that you are so open with sharing your weightloss story. You truly are an inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteWow. That is amazing. Congratulations on your success!
ReplyDeleteLove it... look how far you've come! :)
ReplyDeleteYou did a lot those six months. The best part is that it was just the beginning of your lifestyle change! Congrats doing so well.
ReplyDeleteUm, wait...is that a Pac Man arcade game in the background there? Whoaove!
ReplyDeleteThat was an awesome post. I love how people redefine who there are through exercise (especially running).
