Today I did my regular 4 mile route. I love when I don't have to think this early in the morning. It's so nice to have my entire run when I can actually see. It was not long ago when my entire run was in the dark. I don't even have to run with a headlamp anymore which is nice. Not that I mind running in the dark, I actually do like running that way.
It was a nice morning today. I saw a couple walkers out and I also saw another runner out as well. It's very rare for me to see anyone. I'm sure that are many people that run in the area but I don't see them. I should go over to Stoney Creek one morning during the week and see how many people are out there during the week compared to the weekend.

I have another contest coming shortly! As soon as I receive the prizes, I'll get you up to date on it. While the prizes are not really big, if you are a runner, you will REALLY like what it is. A really nice quality product. More to come.

I'm taking the next step to considering a Du or Tri and taking in my old road bike to the bike store for a tune up and some new tires. I also need to get a helmet and some tri shorts and maybe a pair of clip on aerobars as well. While I would love to get this:
I'm not sure I can justify the $2,000 cost just yet so I will get into the sport with my existing bike and can always move up into something else once I'm sure I want to do them. One thing I am weighing is the cost of Tri's vs Run. I can basically race all year for running for what the cost of two Half Ironman races run. Jeez they are expensive!
Anyway, I'm not sure I will sign up for a race this year since my running calendar is so full but I am going to use my cross train day to ride the bike. I still have to get this whole swimming thing down too which I will try at the lake. The local bike shop that is also into Triathlons also has some program where you can swim at our local University for only $5 per time. That's a great deal. As soon as I get the courage to sign up for a Tri, I'll join this as well.
Question of the day? Have you raced a Du or Tri? What distance did you start at?
Have a great day and.....Keep Running!!!!!
I've never run a du or a tri. I was planning on it this summer but this marathon thing came up and I couldn't pass the opportunity up. Plus, I'd have to buy a bike and all the other stuff needed for a du/tri and without a job it isn't happening right now. GL finding the right race to start with.
ReplyDeleteI've only ever done running races, so I have no advice :)
ReplyDeleteIt's SO nice to be able to run in the morning and have it be light out!
My first tri was a sprint distance. I am now up to 1/2 IMs. You are right about tris being expensive. That is one reason why I don't race alot.
ReplyDeleteI would love to try a du or tri!!! I will probably look into it after I run my marathon in the fall. I can't wait for your next giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteStay tuned for my first Tri report on the 26th or 27th. I have a 750$ Scott road bike that seems to keep up with those zippy Cervelos...have fun on those roads!
ReplyDeletethe whole reason I started training was because I wanted to do a tri! :) So my first race was a sprint tri. Now I'm looking for a new goal....maybe an oly tri next year. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteHey! Haven't done a du or tri yet but have been looking for one to sign up for. I have an entry level road bike and I'm hoping I can get away with it. You should def do one!
ReplyDeleteWhat is the bike shop with the program? My husband and I have both been wanting to do a tri since we have friends that are HUGE into them. (Problem is, I can't swim very well). It would be awesome if you did one!
ReplyDeleteTri's can be expensive, but look for local smaller ones and you can get them as cheap as running races! I started with a sprint and worked my way up. And don't get a tri bike just yet. Do one and see what you think! Most likely you'll be hooked and then the purchase is justified! :)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't swim, but hay it was IRONMAN or nothing... But that said I did do a couple of sprint tri's, and like Colleen has said they were local and cheep.
ReplyDeletegood luck
Christi - $600 bucks for an IM full plus travel costs. Crazy expensive. I'd pay it to do it once but can't see doing it yearly.
ReplyDeleteAmy - Fraser Bicycle. They were very helpful. I dropped the bike off this morning for a tune up and new tires. Can't wait to ride it again.
Colleen - the lowest price I have seen for a local sprint tri is $45-55 so not too bad.
We're in winter now so all my morning runs are in the dark. I don't see many others outside now.
ReplyDeleteIn reply to your comment on my blog: I usually retire shoes at about 800 miles. The problem is a normal pair of shoes here in SA cost about R1000 (SA Rand). My Nike Pegasus is R1100.:(
I'm thinking about getting a bike for some x-training.
