It's hot out - not anymore

4 miles on the schedule today.  I was determined not to run on the treadmill.  It was raining but then that never stops me from running outside.  I got to about 3 miles and then there was lightning and thunder.  Just out of the blue there was a huge shine of lightning.  Oops...time to get home.  Fortunately, I was on my way home since I only had 4 on the schedule to it worked out ok.

While it was raining pretty good, I was less wet at the end of my run today than I was on my long run on Sunday.  And it was sunny Sunday!!!  For me, running in the rain is a mental thing.  I feel I need to do it just in case it's raining at one of my races.  This gives me a huge mental boost when going into race day when it's raining out.  It's not that I want it to rain but I can embrace it more at a race knowing I've trained through it.

Here's a hilarious video, for you Chris Rock fans, about it being hot out.  It's very short but funny!  I got it from a daily mile friend:

For those of you running through this heat, you will get a kick out of this video.  Fortunately, for us in Michigan, it looks like we are getting some relief.  This morning, while it was raining, it was only 64 degrees outside.  Love it!  Do I see 59 degrees for a low tomorrow - YES!!  If you lived in the northern part of our state(UP especially), it's going to be high's in the low 70's and low's in the low 50's!!!  Look what our week is bringing here in Detroit.  Can't ask for better than this:

Finally, the next several days is going to be really nice, with lower temperatures and humidity.  It'll be nice to open up the windows around here.  I'm sick of the air conditioning(but happy to have it).

Question of the day:  What is one thing, real thing, related to running that you wish they made?

Have a great day and....Keep Running!!!!!

  1. We're getting some relief up here, too. I'm not complaining one way or the other, but this is perfect running weather IMO.

  2. It POURED for my race on Sunday, but that was way better than the alternative of heat and humidity! I love running in the rain in the summer.

  3. Luckily for us up here in the Northeast it hasn't been as hot as the rest of the country. Only a few 90+ days. I've only used my AC maybe 4-5 days this summer.

The only thing I wish they made was more sidewalks.... I think every road should have at least one.

I wish there were more SAFE paths to run on. Like they have dog parks, why not have a running park?!?
