5 miles on the schedule today. Yikes! Another really cold day with the temperature at 23 degrees and a feels like temperature of 13 degrees.

As discussed on yesterday's interview with Alan Whitehead, I am an ambassador for a couple races in the Southeast Michigan areas. These two races are the ShamRock 'n' Roll Run and the Solstice Run(See right side of my blog to sign up) presented by Kona Running Company.
Here are some details for the upcoming ShamRock 'n' Roll Run. Tomorrow I'll share some details on the Solstice Run. Both are "must do" races in the area for those of you from Michigan. If you are living outside of Michigan but will be in the area, consider signing up for these as well. If you have family or friends here, it will give you a great excuse to come visit us.
I have personal experience with the races as I have run the Solstice Run 10 mile twice already. The company, Kona Running Company, also puts on the Wicked Halloween Run as well which I also ran in October. ALL their races have been very well organized and lots of family fun but you can also tell that the races are put together by runners who know what other runners are looking for in a race.
Here are the details:
ShamRock 'n' Roll Run - Inaugural Race
Website: Click HERE for all the details.
Date: Sunday, March 3/18/12
Place: Downtown Plymouth, MI at Kellogg Park(Course map coming soon)
Races: 10k, 5k and 1 mile(no age limits and walkers are welcome)
Best time to register: By 1/15/12 for the best price, of course! Plus the 10k is limited to 1,300 runners and it's likely this race will sell out so register early.
Included in price: Tech shirts to all participants(guaranteed if registered by 3/14/12), medal to all 10k participants, Costume contest, AG awards for the 10k and 5k runs(3 deep for each 5 year category), GU brew for 10k participants, B-tag timing(on the bib), USATF certified course - for a serious runner, this is a real bonus, finish line recovery food.
Shirt: Check out another great design; I wear my Solstice Run and Halloween Run shirts all the time when training since they are great designs:
Medal: Finishers medal for all 10k participants! This looks like an awesome medal too - great design. I can't wait to get my hands on one of these! Check it out:
It should be an incredible race. This race will start off my racing season and it will be the first race that my brother and I have run together! Please consider joining me and many others for a great time!
Stay tuned tomorrow and I will give you details of the Solstice Run coming in June.
Have a great day and....Keep Running!!!!
Holy crap - Cool ass shirt & medal!! Wish I was closer to run that!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited you're an ambassador for these races! I ran Solstice and Wicked Halloween Run last year and LOVED them. I didn't realize there was a price break for ShamRock'n Roll, so I'll be registering today! So excited to hear more from you on this.
ReplyDeleteLooks like an interesting race. I may be down (or is it up?) for the 10k. I like the shirt because it looks good and I am now a "tech" shirt convert after being a die hard "t-shirt is good enough" guy.
ReplyDeleteJust curious, what does being an ambassador for a race like this mean besides just bringing attention to it? Are there "perks" to it besides just being a nice guy and helping out?
Rose - I'll be happy to see you there!
ReplyDeleteClippinalong - Sound great. You will enjoy it. Bringing attention to it, I'm getting people to sign up, I will be blogging about these regularly and keeping them on my blog until the race. I'll be doing a complete review of the races as well. I did an interview yesterday with the race director that you would enjoy reading. I'm being a nice guy(and I get to race it complementary) Regardless, they are very good races since I have experience with their previous races. Also read tomorrow as you will hear about the Solstice Run which is another great race!
