These weeks are flying by. I can't believe I'm only 13 weeks away from running another marathon! Wow! The weather here in Michigan has been unbelievable. I actually was able to do my long run(12 miles) on the Paint Creek Trail.
Those of you that have run a marathon know that it's nice to do some long runs on nice soft trails. Not that the trails were really soft since the ground was frozen but it's much better than the concrete I've been running on. It's really surprising that it's already February and I've only run in the snow a couple times. This is the year to train for a marathon in the spring in Michigan.
Ok, this was not yesterday but was a nice trail in Michigan. |
Miles ran: 105
Miles biked: 30
Weights: 3 times
A good start to the training. I looked back over the last year and I have not run under 100 miles in a months since. The most miles I had was 181 miles back in April 2010, a month before I ran my first marathon. I have kept track of my miles on Dailymile for quite some time now so it makes it easy to look back. Just a little tidbit. I have ran 0.10 around the world since I started running. That's 10%!
The best way I have found to keep consistent with my running? Run with someone. Ok, nobody is likely to run with me at 5am before work but I regularly run with my running buddy on the weekend for our long run. In fact, he just committed to running the same marathon with me in May so it will make it that much easier to complete the training and the race. Even though we run our own race, it's nice to know that there's someone there going through it with you. No running buddy? Consider running with a running club. We saw one on Saturday's run. There must have been at least 20 people getting ready to run. Another way to get through things? Run with a group like Team in Training. There's a great group of people out where I run and they are out there every weekend - rain, shine, snow, you name it! Plus you can join a group that running in some incredible places around the World and it's for a great cause too.
