3 miles today....done!
-------------
Nuun contacted me recently to see if I would have an interest in testing and reviewing their product. While I'm sure many of you runners/cyclists know, but for those of you that don't know, they make Electrolyte drink tablets to help you with Hydration during/after running/exercise. Here's what I was sent:
A cool waterbottle with their logo on it and two flavors - Strawberry Lemonade and Tri-berry. Each tube contains 12 tablets. Here's what the tablets give you:
Each tablet makes 16 oz. of Nuun and gives you the following: 360 mg of Sodium, 100 mg of Potassium, 25 mg of Magnesium and 13 mg of Calcium. It has less than 8 calories. NO sugar. No high-frutose corn syrup. No artificial flavors or colors.
Both flavors that I tried had a good taste to them. The taste is basically a flavored water with a very light taste. What I mean is that it does not taste syrupy(is that a word?) or heavy so it's enjoyable to drink. I'm sure many of you have been to races where you tasted the drink they were giving out and it was too heavy/sugary for you to drink and then keep running. This is not the case with Nuun. Nuun also has a good aftertaste as well.
As most of you know, I have not been a big fan of drinks like these. Many do not have a good taste or are not good for you. Actually there has only been two brands, including Nuun, that I have actually liked.
Nuun is really simple to use. Drop a tablet in your waterbottle, wait two minutes and it's ready to drink. Here's what the tablet looks like:
The price is also extremely reasonable at only 46 to 50 cents depending on how much you purchase. Actually, I'm not sure you could find anything less expensive in the electrolyte drink area. As you know, I'm also a big fan of companies that help the environment. In this case, using these is helping save twelve 16 oz. plastic bottles from going into the landfill.
Flavors, flavors, flavors! - lots of flavors to pick from including Lemon+Lime, Tri-berry, Strawberry-Lemonade, Grape(which is co-branded with Team in Training and 15% goes back to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society - awesome!), Orange, Fruit-Punch, Kona Cola, Citrus Fruit, Lemon Tea, Tropical, Banana, Goji Berry Green Tea, Tangerine Ginger, and Cucumber Mint.
You can purchase these in single flavors of four packs or you can get a mixed four pack of four flavors. You can also order a 100 count box of single serve tablets as well. A great way to get a good mix of flavors too.
Overall, I would highly recommend these and I believe you will find them to be a staple in your hydration plan going forward no matter what you are training for.
