3 miles on the schedule today.....done!
----------------
So last week if you saw my Facebook post, I received this:
Coach Ken got a copy for me. Luke Humphrey along with the Hanson's were doing a book signing at their Royal Oak location. I didn't attend but asked Ken if he would get me a copy of the book. He even got it signed:
Signed by Luke Humphrey! |
If you guys don't know about Luke, go HERE and you can learn more.
He's super fast. An accomplished Elite runner through the Hanson's program and currently runs their coaching services. He's qualified for the Olympic Marathon Trials twice and has top standings in many races. We are fortunately to have such wealth of knowledge in our area with both him and Hanson's Running Shops which are known nationally.
I've just started reading the book but I'm thinking of trying out this program for next year's marathon. They don't subscribe to the 20 milers but let me tell you that their program is not easy. It's focused to help you run faster and, as most of you know, just running long isn't always the key(although it's what I've done to train for Grand Rapids). Having focused tempo, speed, long, easy, strength, etc all have it's place in the program.
So far, I'd say it's worth picking up if you are looking for a little different marathon training program.
Have a great day and....Keep Running!!!!
Uhhhhhhh Jeff about that autograph......... LMAO!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I've been following their method for years since I often do the hansons training runs at at their stores. But when I say following, I mean following the news and other material, not actually following by running their plan.
