Marathon training Summary

Rest day on the schedule today.  I'm feeling pretty good overall and looking forward to a week of (active) rest.  I've only got a 4 miler and a 3 miler the next two days and supposed to do a 2 miler on Saturday.  Since I know I'll be walking around a lot on Saturday, for the fourth training cycle, I'm going to opt to skip this run(the only run I'll have missed by the way in the entire train program) since I know I'll get in the two miles walking around Grand Rapids and the area.

-------------------------

So here's the numbers that I did for marathon #4:

18 weeks of training; 659 miles run starting 6/18(up to and including the marathon race)

6 races mixed into the training including the following:

Ann Arbor Half Marathon(although technically I ran this the day before training started on 6/17)
Solstice 10 mile - 6/23
North Country Half Marathon - 8/25
St. Mary Mercy 5k - 9/9
Brooksie Way Half Marathon - 9/30
Brückeläufe Half Marathon - 10/6

Training firsts:

200 mile month in September; highest monthly mileage ever
57.3 miles - top weekly mileage ever(week of 9/24)
Back to back(9/30 & 10/6) half marathons
20.2 longest training run ever 9/15(heh, you've got to give me the 0.2)
First trail half marathon ever 8/25(and certainly not the last)

For the most part I used Hal Higdon's Intermediate II program and mixed it up slightly but it's probably 95% that program.  I have to say that it's the hardest marathon training program I've been through.  It is NOT for beginners and frankly I'm wondering if I should have even used it this time(even with this being my fourth) but I did survive. Ha!

Hope your training has gone as well as mine.

Have a great day and....Keep Running!!!!
