Training plan for Lansing Marathon

Rest day on the schedule today....

-----------------

So I've put my plan into place for the Lansing Marathon.  The plan will start on December 17th and will go through to April 21st.  Another 18 week program.  It's pretty much the Hal Higdon Intermediate II plan except for some minor modification to fit a couple races into the picture.

I've got the Kona Sham Rock N Roll 10k in March and also the Rock CF half the following week.  The biggest change is the two big runs on Friday and Saturday to help even more with endurance.  That's a big change from my last marathon plan as I have always taken the day before and day after the long run off.

A few more weeks and it will be here.  Not sure I'm ready to start.  I may actually take off a week of running just before this to rest up.  We'll see.

Do you have plans for a spring marathon yet?

Have a great day and....Keep Running!!!!

  1. Happy training! I start the same day, training for Blue Ridge Marathon. Using the same plan also with some tweaks for races.

  2. I'm with you- not sure if I am quite ready for marathon training again yet. I'm thinking of (loosely) following the same Hal Higdon plan- and my first 2013 marathon is April 21st, so looks like we'll be in similar situations.

  3. I need to get my plan in place for my spring marathon too. I am giving myself until January 1st before I have to start my training.

  4. Looks like a solid plan. No marathon in the spring but planning for a half in March that I'd like to PR in. It's the Shamrock Half in Virginia Beach. Can't wait!

  5. Looks fine to me, don't know about my next marathon, but I might do an ultra in April.

Just one thing, remember on your long run to try and end with a couple of miles at race pace...
