For or against?

Weight/strength training on the schedule today. I continue the battle to keep this up weekly but it was not too bad this morning.  I also did my first Yoga workout ever!  20 minute routine from an app on my iPad.  I loved it and need to do this more.
-------------------

Ok I'm sure many of you have thought about this one. Are you with Lance Armstrong or against? I can't really say I'm either.
  • I don't really care about his guilt or not. He's admitted it so lets move on. Ok, that's not entirely true. He hurt many people and also tarnished people who said he cheated and it wasn't right but we still need to move on.
  • He's brought in lots......TONS of money for cancer research and many people say that he did it for himself but I disagree. Nobody can do what he did out of being completely selfish.
  • Should he race again? Absolutely. If we banned everyone in professional sports that doped and then lied about it, there probably would not be many left. I'm not saying I condone it but let's not use arguably one of the best athletes in the world as an example. Selfishly, I want to see him race again because they will be checking with him constantly so it will be virtually impossible to cheat. Perhaps he might surprise everyone and still be a top athlete.
  • I do agree that he did it to maintain a fair playing field(since everyone was doing it). But that didn't mean he needed to jump off the bridge too.
I still believe his presence in the sport, whether that's cycling or triathlon, adds value. If anything, people will watch more. It's just like when Tiger Woods messed up, it becomes mainstream and people listen. It should be very interesting to see how this all plays out in the long run.

What are your thoughts?  Are you going to watch Oprah's interview?  I recorded it but not sure I'll watch it all.

Have a great day and....Keep Running!!!!

  1. Great job doing yoga! I'm glad you enjoyed it. The Lance stuff is really tricky. I don't like the lying and deception but he's done a lot of good as well. I do want to tech the Oprah interview. I think either way he has been a talented athlete and brought a lot of awareness to being strong even through adversity.

  2. I am so bad at fitting in my strength training. lately it's been one day of good lifting and a couple days of push ups & random core work.

I am on the fence with Lance. The first thing that comes to mind is "who doesn't dope?" MI personally think majority of professional athletes take some kind of supplement. I don't agree with the lying and I agree with stripping him of his wins, but I disagree with banning him all together.

  3. hmm. Well Lance and Livestrong... I've been hearing things that it wasn't the great cancer research group it was suppose to be. The money came in but wasn't going to where it was supposedly suppose to go to.

But...well I'm not sure if people would know much about the Tour DeFrance without him. At least in America kwim?

And well at least he's calling the kid from Notre Dame and thanking him....lol
