First, it's a Sprint triathlon that includes a 750 yard swim in Halfmoon lake. Check it out:

Finally, you will do a 3.1 mile run which is an out-and-back course.

The transition area will be right near the swim area.
Note: You will need a recreation passport to get into the park but frankly, most people I know that run or do triathlons already have it.
While I have not done this race, it sounds like a good one and a great place for a triathlon. All triathletes get a Michigan pull string backpack and a water bottle plus prizes to top finishers. Perhaps if I end up really enjoying triathlons after my first in August, I'll put this one on my schedule for next year. Is it just me or does it seem like there is more triathlon choices in summer than running races?
The race will be on July 28th and is currently $70.00 + USAT fee. Seems on par with most other Triathlons in the area. And who better to put on a triathlon than a college level triathlon team?

5 miles today at marathon pace. Ran it at a 7:35 average pace so a bit faster than marathon goal but, as I said, I might need to be faster than my original goal too. It seems that pace felt much easier than it was last week. I know it helped that the weather was much nicer but I'm also hoping that it because my body is getting used to that faster pace too.

Have a great day and....Keep Running!!!!
Note: I was not paid or required to write anything about this race. I felt that some of my readers might have an interest in trying it out.
Sounds like a great Tri! I really need to get on board and do one myself.
ReplyDeleteGreat pace on your run! You're gonna kill your upcoming marathon!
Exciting...sounds like fun! :0) I've never completed a tri, but I find them fascinating!
