Up next, Half #20 Detroit

Crazy! I tell you, crazy!  If you had asked me when I started running that I'd run over 20 half marathons, I would have thought you were crazy.  It's my favorite distance by far!

Number 20 will be the Detroit Half Marathon on Sunday!

Here's a list of what I've run in the half marathon distance leading up to #20 in my quest to run every half marathon in Michigan(ok, not really).  There's 101 of them(at least showing on RunMichigan) in case anyone was interested.  You can read all my reviews on the race reviews tab:

Brooksie Way(Rochester, MI)(3)
Rock CF(Grosse Ile, MI)(2)
Let's Run Festival(Mt. Clemens, MI)
Capital City River Run(Lansing, MI)
Martian(Dearborn, MI)
Glass City Half(Toledo, OH)
Back to the Beach(mostly trail)(Shelby Township, MI)
Ann Arbor(Ann Arbor, MI)
North Country Trail(Manistee, MI)
Bruckelaufe(Frankenmuth, MI)
Lansing(Lansing, MI)
Great Lakes Bay(Midland, MI)
Dexter to Ann Arbor(Dexter, MI)
Charlevoix(Charlevoix, MI)
The Legend Trail(Laingsburg, MI)
Sleeping Bear(Empire, MI)

I have a pretty easy plan for this half marathon.  I'll just be running this as a training run since I have a marathon two weeks out from this event - Monumental Marathon in Indianapolis #5.  The goal is sub two hour which should be reasonable.  I've run every road half marathon I've done under 2 hours so this one should be that as well.  It's the first time I've run the half at Detroit.

I've been involved in the race before as I ran the relay with a team in 2010 and I ran the full marathon in 2011 so I'm very familiar with the race and the course.  It's a great race overall.

Just before I crossed the finish in 2011 for the Full
Having run the full, I actually liked the first half of the race the most with a run over the Ambassador Bridge to Canada and a run through the tunnel back to the USA.  I'll be happy to split toward the finish and not do the full this year.  I wish all the runners good luck for an excellent race.

How about you?  Are you running it this year?

Full race review coming next week.

Have a great day and....Keep Running!!!!

  1. I am running the Grand Rapids full tomorrow. My awesome running buddy is running the Detroit full tomorrow. I wish every one a great and happy running day. (That sign for the split is awful. I can't imagine running the full and having the opportunity to make a decision to follow the half sign and just run the half. Ha!)
