Marathon Training - week 4 finishing with Gone For A Run virtual 10k

Wow, time sure flies when you are having fun!  I can't believe it's already the completion of week four in marathon training. 14 weeks to go until Marathon #7!  This was a really great week for me.
I finished the week with about 29 miles.  This included four runs this week plus a couple yoga sessions.  I skipped my three miler on Thursday so I could have two rest days before the half marathon.  I'm happy with my decision to skip that as it helped me run a decent(for me) race.

I finished the week out with a half marathon race on the trails(review coming soon) as well as a virtual race for Gone For a Run called the Log Off.  Shut Down.  Go Run 10k.  I'm a race ambassador for the website and this was their first Virtual race and they are planning more as well.  Go to their website for more information on new races including the Bad Ass Runner 5 miler.

I was originally going to combine my half marathon with the virtual race but I figured I had six miles on the schedule for Sunday so why not just do the virtual race on it's own course.  I ended up running it at my usual course on the Stony Creek trails.  Heres a look at the course.  This is a course I made up on my own - the advantage to a virtual race - and it allows me to get in some nice hills and single track.
Some nice single track in there and some hills with 281 foot of elevation gain per Strava
I even brought my medal to get a picture at the end of the course.  My prize for today's run.

Since I could not train for the "No Wimps" challenge that was part of the race weekend, I made up my own "no wimps" by running a half on Saturday and a 10k on Sunday.  It was a great weekend for running!

Hope your training is going well.

Have a great day and....Keep Running!!!!

Disclosure:  I received a free entry into the virtual race from Gone For A Run as part of being an ambassador for their site.

  1. Nice job with a solid weekend of running! Very cool medal to add to the collection. I'm looking forward to hearing about your half marathon as well.

  2. You are going to need a couple more runs like that in order to run a good marathon.

Now I just reread your post hoping to found out how your half went, guess I'll have to wait! but I did just read your disclosure... and thought combinding the 2 races would have been "cheating" so ha ha ha get out there and run a 2nd race "No Wimps"
